The American Girl magazine is reporting that mothers are becoming more open with their kids about the ways in which they are raising them.
The article notes that more than 80 percent of mothers surveyed by the magazine feel they have “a responsibility to help their children learn to be independent.”
The authors say that parents need to become more open about the emotional, physical, and social impacts that can be had by raising children who are different from them.
“It is a matter of growing up in the world where the most vulnerable people are at the lowest point in their lives,” they write.
“Children should be allowed to grow up with their own identities, but also with the support of others who are also different.”
