Gophers coach Pat Fitzgerald will not be named to Gophers season-opening roster

Pat Fitzgerald has been named the head coach of the Gophers, the school announced Thursday.

Fitzgerald, 55, will replace Dave Hakstol as the Gopher head coach, the university announced in a statement.

The announcement was made to the Minnesota Duluth Sun newspaper.

Forky is 2-2 with a 4.26 GAA and a .906 save percentage in seven games.

He is 1-1 in three seasons as a head coach.

Frye is 1 of five Gophers head coaches to win the NCAA regular-season and conference championship with the same team.

The other two are Ron Fouts (2001-05) and Bob Murchison (1988-92).

Fouts won the NCAA championship with Syracuse in 2002.

Murchison was the second-winningest coach in Gophers history.
